Abuse of dominance
Our experience extends over more than 40 years and includes many of the landmark EU abuse of dominance cases. From United Brands and Michelin to Microsoft and Intel, we have a long track record of representing clients alleged to have abused their dominant market position, as well as complainants and third parties, in abuse of dominance cases before the European Commission and the EU courts.
We have particular expertise in matters involving digital markets, technology and other innovative industries that often involve novel forms of conduct and novel legal questions.
Where appropriate, we help clients resolve cases against them through settlement and the negotiation of commercially acceptable commitments. Even though we are proud of our track record in abuse of dominance investigations and litigation, we fully appreciate that our clients’ foremost goal is to avoid investigations and court cases in the first place.
With this mind, we regularly provide advice to clients across all industry sectors on compliance strategies, including how to structure business projects, helping them to reduce risks under Article 102 TFEU and equivalent provisions in the laws of the EU Member States and the UK.
Legal 500 2025, Competition: EU and global“VBB is an outstanding firm for EU competition issues.
