1. The purpose of this notice – protecting personal data
Van Bael & Bellis SRL/BV, its subsidiaries and all affiliated entities (VBB, we, our and us) are firmly committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal data. This notice explains how we use and protect personal data you provide when you:
- visit our website;
- register for our newsletters, alerts and events;
- register to be part of our alumni network;
- give us your contact details;
- apply for a job; or
- otherwise communicate with us (including in the course of our business).
The processing of information relating to identified or identifiable natural persons (personal data) collected through this website or otherwise received by VBB, such as through emails, other correspondence and registration forms, is subject to the applicable data protection laws.
For the purposes of this policy, the applicable data protection laws mean EU Regulation 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR) including its implementing national legislation, the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended, any equivalent legislation amending or replacing the GDPR or UK data protection legislation and any other law applicable to us and relating to data protection.
VBB is the ‘controller’ of your personal information.
2. What information do we collect?
VBB may, through our website, collect certain information relating to users who visit the website and may, solely for internal purposes, track how users make use of our website. The information collected through the website includes the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, computer and connection information such as browser type and version and operating system, as well as Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) clickstream to, through and from our website, including date and time, and location, device and demographic information.
In addition, VBB may collect and process information relating to persons who contact VBB members or register for our newsletters and events, such as online webinars, through the website, email or other electronic correspondence. This information may include: the contact details and other information on business cards and in electronic signatures, IP addresses, and email addresses, information relating to your location, preferences and interests, and other information provided by a person subscribing to our marketing mailings.
In some cases, your information may be complemented or updated with publicly available information to ensure your contact details and professional information is up to date.
3. How and why do we use your data?
Your personal data are used only to the extent that this is required to pursue the following legitimate interests:
- to ensure the security of the website;
- to provide and improve the website’s content and compile statistics on the use of the website; and/or
- to manage our relationship with you (and/or your business), including by maintaining our database of clients and other third parties for relationship management, accounting and general administration purposes.

4. To whom can we disclose your data?
VBB relies on third parties to host and provide technical support for our website, recruitment portal, communication and collaboration software, apps and digital services and to organise events. In the context of these services, and only to the extent that this is necessary for the service they provide, these third parties may have access to the personal data processed by VBB for the purposes mentioned above. Our service providers abide by appropriate safeguards protecting your personal data.
For email marketing, we rely on the services of Foundation Marketing, part of the Litera group, which is based in the United States. To learn more about how Litera protects your personal data, please consult its privacy policy here. Where Litera transfers your personal information across national boundaries, its policy states that it will protect your personal information by ensuring that those transfers are made in compliance with all relevant data protection laws. Litera also has in place a global data protection policy which it follows worldwide and which is based on UK, European Union and Californian data protection principles (known to be some of the toughest privacy principles in the world).
Where required to comply with legal or regulatory requirements, we will share your personal data with relevant authorities, courts and regulatory bodies.
Our website may contain links to and from the websites of third parties. If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check these before you provide any personal data to these websites.
5. How can you manage/access/delete your data?
You have the right to access your data, have us update outdated information or correct any errors in your data or, if necessary, delete that data or request that we restrict the use of it. You also have the right to opt out of receiving newsletters, alerts or marketing collateral from VBB. Each VBB marketing mailing provides the option of unsubscribing or updating your information and preferences.
In addition, you can exercise your rights at any time by sending an email to [email protected]. Please note that we may ask for additional information to ascertain your identity before we comply with your request.

6. How long do we keep your data?
Data relating to your browsing of our website will be kept only for the duration of the session. However, cookies may last longer on your device so we can identify you upon your next visit (for more information see our notice on cookies.
Registrations for events or newsletters will be kept until after the event or until you unsubscribe from our newsletters.
Job applications are maintained for up to two years after your initial application. This allows us to verify if we have already reviewed your profile. If you are invited for an interview, internship or ‘stage’, we may keep your information longer, as will be explained to you during the interview, internship or stage.
The data that we receive in the context of our client relationship, or queries you may have, will be retained for the duration that is relevant for the advice, procedure or subject matter of the request, taking into account contractual or legal obligations and liability that we may have to keep records of our files.
