Steve advises clients on a wide range of competition law matters, including cartels, abuse of dominance issues and intellectual property licensing.

Competition law

He has also assisted clients in high profile cartel and abuse of dominance investigations before the European Commission, before the EU Courts and before International Arbitration Tribunals.

Steve’s competition law experience covers a broad range of sectors, including sports, aviation, aeronautics, consumer electronics, automotive, energy and raw materials.

International trade law (trade defence)

Steve’s experience extends to international trade law, and in particular to anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, anti-circumvention, anti-absorption and safeguard investigations. He has broad experience in advising clients, including private companies, public institutions and industry associations, in investigations before the European Commission, the UK Trade Remedies Authority and in litigations before EU courts.

His expertise covers a spectrum of industries, including steel, digital, telecommunications, chemicals, raw materials, automobile and electronics.

Foreign Subsidies Regulation

Steve has experience in advising clients before the Commission and EU Courts in the context of ex officio investigations. Steve is also a contributing author to The EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation book.

Representative matters

  1. Representing Nuctech before EU Courts in connection with the ex officio investigation initiated by the Commission under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (cases T-284/24 and C-720/24 P(R));
  2. Advising and representing the EU and UK optical fibre cable industries in connection with several anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and anti-absorption investigations as well as in Court proceedings.
  3. Advising ACT and Intel before EU Courts in connection with the 2009 Intel decision (cases T-286/09 and T-286/09 RENV; C-413/14 P and C-240/22 P) and the 2023 Intel re-adopted decision (case T-1129/23);
  4. Representing the EU plywood industry before EU Courts in connection with anti-dumping proceedings (cases T-2/22; T-3/22 and T-32/22);
  5. Representing POSCO before EU Courts in connection with anti-circumvention proceedings (case T-390/24 and T-391/24);
  6. Advising the International Skating Union before EU Courts in connection with the International Skating Union’s Eligibility rules case (cases T-93/18 and C-124/21 P);
  7. Advising Safran before the EU Commission in connection with an Article 102 TFEU investigation;
  8. Advising VISCAS before EU courts in connection with the Power Cables cartel case (cases T-422/14 and C-582/18 P);
