Tomorrow, 1 July 2023, the new Belgian mechanism for the screening of foreign direct investment enters into force. This mechanism introduces a new important dimension to acquisitions by foreign investors of stakes in Belgian companies. Belgium thereby joins an ever growing list of jurisdictions introducing FDI screening mechanisms and sharpening their FDI screening tools.
