Trajan is an associate in Van Bael & Bellis’s Brussels office, where he specialises in international trade law and in general aspects of EU law.

In particular, Trajan has notable experience with assisting clients in trade defence investigations (anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, and circumvention proceedings). He also advises clients, which include large multinationals, industry associations and governments, on questions concerning EU law.

Trajan also regularly advises on Spanish and EU competition law, including on foreign direct investment screening.

Before joining VBB, Trajan gained experience in a leading law firm in Spain and was a trainee in the office of the Director-General of the European Commission Legal Service.

Trajan regularly speaks and writes about EU and international economic law.

Representative matters

  1. Successfully obtaining exemptions for POSCO’s affiliated companies operating in Türkiye and Vietnam in an EU parallel circumvention investigation concerning anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures on imports of cold-rolled stainless steel.
  2. Advising EU wood processing industries, including plywood and parquet, in relation to several anti-dumping proceedings.
  3. Acting for Hoa Phat Group, a leading Vietnamese steel producer, in securing a full exemption of anti-dumping duties following an investigation initiated by the European Commission.

Pro bono

Assisting all major European associations of judges in an action for annulment before the EU General Court against the Council of the EU in a matter concerning judicial independence.
