Tim Vermeir is one of the leading Belgian energy lawyers, with over 25 years of experience assisting producers and suppliers, industrial consumers, operators of closed distribution systems, and energy project developers.
He has been involved in most of the landmark cases before the Belgian Constitutional Court, the Council of State and the Cour des Marchés / Marktenhof.
Together with the former Belgian federal minister of energy, Tim founded Blixt, a boutique energy law firm, of which he was the managing partner until he joined VBB.
Tim has been an assistant at the University of Leuven, writes regularly on energy law topics in peer-reviewed books and journals and is a renowned speaker at conferences.
He has served as an assistant on lawyers’ deontology to the Dean of the Dutch-speaking bar of Brussels.

- Assisted multiple industrial companies owning a private electricity system in the application for a closed distribution system and the drafting of the relevant connection and access contracts.
- Assisted a major Flemish investor in the procurement and the contractual framework for the largest onshore PV-installation and the first floating PV-installation in Belgium.
- Litigated against numerous decisions of Fluvius in the field of PV subsidy and alleged energy fraud.
- Assisted several project developers in the contractual framework for district heating projects.
- Advising on renewable energy subsidy schemes and the contemplated substantial decrease thereof.
