VBB’s response to the UK DBT consultation

1 min read

The UK Government’s consultation seeking views on proposed reforms to the UK competition regime closed at the end of March

The Government’s proposals would introduce significant changes to the current framework for markets and mergers cases, building on the Competition and Markets Authority’s ongoing work to improve pace, predictability, proportionality and process of engagement.  Proposed changes that would give the CMA Board more direct involvement in phase 2 decision-making have proved particularly controversial, in the context of increased political pressure on the CMA.

Head of UK Competition Becket McGrath, counsel Marc Freedman and Co-head of Competition Porter Elliott have submitted VBB’s response to the consultation and will continue to monitor developments as the legislative process progresses. If you would like to discuss the potential implications of the proposals for your business, please contact a member of the team.
