Van Bael & Bellis (VBB) achieves exceptional results once again in Chambers Global 2023 with consistently high rankings across two prominent categories: International Trade/WTO (Band 1) and EU Competition (Band 2). In addition, VBB’s well-reputed and growing Transactions Team also scored highly in a key area of practice, Corporate/M&A (Band 3).
Notably, VBB’s EU Competition team gains a first-time ranking in the new Global: Multijurisdictional Competition/Antitrust table, which highlights “those firms in the market whose international strength sees them handling major global mandates”. The co-heads of the practice, Andrzej Kmiecik and Porter Elliott, have been deemed ‘Notable Practitioners” under this new ranking.
VBB also continues to hold its position in the Global Market Leaders table as Chambers confirms that ”Van Bael & Bellis is known for its outstanding work in all aspects of Europe-wide international trade and WTO”, with managing partner Philippe De Baere recognised yet again as a ‘Notable practitioner’.
Clients add "The Van Bael team has a strong presence in the relevant jurisdictions and the team has a diverse breadth of private practice and in-house experience."
In addition to the firm’s practice rankings, 15 VBB lawyers have been recognised for their achievements, with a significant number of client reviews, which further demonstrate the firm’s commitment to providing the highest levels of client service.
“Brilliant” Johan Mouraux has been recognised for Banking & Finance, with founding partner and Sr. Statesperson Jean-François Bellis and partners Andrzej Kmiecik, David Hull, Kris Van Hove, Porter Elliott and Markus Wellinger receiving recognition for EU Competition. Michel Bonne is singled out in Corporate/M&A with clients praising his “perfect communication skills in challenging negotiations”. Catherine Longeval continues her ranking for Dispute Resolution, while the International Trade/WTO tables feature Jean-François Bellis, Philippe De Baere, Benoît Servais, Fabrizio Di Gianni, Richard Luff, Pablo Muñiz and Yuriy Rudyuk.
