The Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) conducted yesterday unannounced on-premise inspections of unidentified medical equipment suppliers (see, attached press release in Greek and English). The HCC offered very little details other than to indicate that it started the investigation of its own motion and will review specific arrangements under Article 101 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and that provision’s counterpart under Greek law.
Only a few months ago, the European Commission carried out a dawn raid at the premises of Edwards Lifesciences, a supplier of cardiovascular medical devices (see, Van Bael & Bellis Life Sciences News & Insights of 20 September 2023). That firm was suspected of abusive conduct in breach of Article 102 TFEU.
