On 10 January 2024, Van Bael & Bellis co-hosted a webinar with US antitrust, intellectual property and litigation firm Axinn on recent policy, enforcement and litigation developments relating to AI and pricing algorithms in Europe and the US.
VBB competition partner Andreas Reindl and Axinn partners Bradley Justus and Denise Plunkett discussed the AI/pricing algorithmic-related business practices likely to raise competition law risks and the practical steps businesses can take to mitigate those risks. Among the key calls to action are the needs to remain alive to the concerns of regulators and to keep up-to-date with the fast-evolving enforcement landscape, particularly regarding the increasing use of AI/algorithmic pricing arguments in US private enforcement cases and the approaches taken in public enforcement cases at EU and EU Member State level. The panel also discussed where antitrust issues will likely emerge in the development of large AI models and AI-related services.
